Bighorn Sheep

A large herd of Bighorn Sheep have been hanging out near the property.

It's during the mating season or rut that the males have joined the herd so it's a large herd of maybe twenty or so sheep, lots of little ones too.

The smaller ram rubs on the larger dominate male to pick up his scent so that it will help him mate with a female.

That's a scent gland under his eye.

Soaking up the rays.

I'm always amazed at how white their teeth are.

I'm watching you...

I could sit for hours watching how they interact with each other.

The dominate male had this set of impressive horns.

  1. I love their eyes. Do the rings on their horns have anything to do with age like trees? They are such majestic animals. I can understand why you live where you do.
