A Cross Quilt and the Sheep

A cross quilt that I had started last week, the top is stitched and will have to wait for a suitable backing fabric since I don't have on hand what I want.  This was the quilt I was working on when the sheep distracted me.
She is gorgeous, notice her pupil.  The big horns have horizontally elongated oval pupils that increases their peripheral vision to spot predators.
Beautiful Ram with almost a full curl, takes seven to eight years for the horns to reach a full curl.
The biologists have been down the road observing them and luring a few in to an area where they can net them and take blood and swab their noises for research, these will be collared so they can be monitored.  The sheep are very susceptible to pneumonia and from what the biologist told me yesterday, they want to learn more on why some herds die off,  why some seem to get sick yet are able to withstand the pneumonia.  As I left the property this morning, they were filming their work and gave me a thumbs up that all went well.

A Quilted Wonky Cross Quilt

Well, I made myself sit behind the sewing machine these last few days despite the heat and quilt.  Funny, odd, how something you think you don't want to do ends up being a pleasure to complete.  I thought I wanted to hand quilt it, but once I started on the machine stitching, knew it would suit the design.  Simple in the ditch quilting.
The back, an older Brannock & Patek fabric that was gifted to me.

Collector Series and The Wonky Quilt Again

Finished another block from the Collector Series, a break from larger projects, love to just sit and applique on something small, plus I just love having those old fabrics in my hands.
Think I will do this block next.
The Wonky Cross quilt is back on the design wall instead of the quilting pile.  The arrangement of some of the blocks were bothering me after looking at it in the last pic, I can tell what I like or dislike about a quilt if I take a pic and study it.  So redid some blocks and tend to like rectangle quilts more than square, so added one more row.  Hope this is it, have a project that has to been finished.

Sidney

Sidney is giving Bailey the evil eye as he plays in the other room where I'm sewing.  Don't know why she just doesn't come join him, cats.

What I was sewing, the blocks are stitched together on the Wonky Cross.
Bailey is clueless that Sidney is watching him with her evil eye.  She'll smack him later to make herself feel better, cats.

Wonky Blocks and a Prim Table Runner

I've been seeing several wonky cross pattern quilts on Pinterest, love the look.  So thought I would try a few blocks and see if I like stitching this much behind the machine, not too bad, easy enough.  I think I will continue with this one in reds.
I just had to play with some of the flannel that Tara sent me.  It will be a long table runner with appliqued letters.  It will spell a word.

Very thankful for cooler temps and some rain today, anything to break the heat and threat of fires.
