In Full Bloom

Yay me, was all I could say when I finally finished hand quilting In Full Bloom.

What a challenge.

I used two different #8 Valdani perle cotton threads for the stitching.
I'm not fond of using a thimble when I hand quilt.  I use what is called Vet Wrap.  An elastic wrap bandage that comes on a roll and you can cut it to any size.  I wrap my thump and needle finger to protect them and it also aids in grasping the needle to pull it through the wool.

In Full Bloom

I finished my completed top of In Full Bloom over a year ago.

My second attempt at hand quilting it.  I removed the stitching on my first attempt because I was like what are you thinking doing this by hand.  So I removed the stitching.  Pondered machine quilting it for months now and just can't get away from the idea that it needs to be hand quilted.  So I started a more meandering stitch with Valdani a cream variegated perle cotton that I think I will like.

Sue Spargo's In Full Bloom

I'm able to share Sue Spargo's 2014 BOM, In Full Bloom since the book for this design will be available for sale on Sue's website on Friday.

Wool, cotton and velvet applique on wool backgrounds.

I finished the top this past Winter, but we were asked to wait to show our work until the book is published.

Love how it looks with the snow in the background.

Lots of embellishing with specialty threads.

Even some beading.

I adore Sue's creative genius and how she combines so many
textures to complete such an awesome quilt.  Now to quilt it.

In Full Bloom by Sue Spargo, Thanking You

Sue Spargo's BOM, In Full Bloom, for 2014.

The wools to be used.

More wools and the fabrics.  I am full of appreciation and joy that someone gave me a gift certificate to be able to purchase this and more.  An anonymous friend who wrote she hopes it will bring me hours of sewing enjoyment and much happiness in my life at this time.  I have to say that I cried when I read that.

Sue's book of embellishing stitches is on it's way for me to practice my stitches.

One of Sue's BOM, Folklore, that I made in 2008.

Thank you so very much, this means so much to me.
