I went all over the place with mine, I did large stippling around the cat areas, outline and spikey on the grass and on the outer borders I did leaves.
I would do big stitch/ contrasting thread straight line stitching, varying the direction [at right angles] and spacing to accentuate the design. btw I love this quilt, so whimsical.

I don't know how you normally quilt, but for this one I would use big stitch quilting with perle cotton thread, no hoop.
