Primitive Stockings

I'm starting to work on Christmas stockings.  These are the ones that I made last year.

Brushed cottons for the stockings and a mix of fabrics for the applique.
The stockings are large, 20" from toe to top.

I'm using this very old pattern from Jan Patek, Stinson Family Homestead for some of the inspiration and designs.  The patterns and directions are printed on tissue paper, that goes way back.

Starting off with a simple Christmas tree design for this one.

You can also find a pattern and designs for stockings in this book by Jan.

I'll be selling the stockings in my Etsy shop.

  1. I love how those came out, Jan's designs are fun to use in all types of projects. I do need to make some this year, so will have to find designs to fit the people.

  3. They are beautiful. We don't have the tradition of Christmas stockings where I live, but I really like them. Should make the time someday to make a few, just for decoration.

  6. The stockings are wonderful. Do you use them for your own decorating, give them away, sell them?
