I've had these little jewels the last week or so visiting what few flowers I have left.
Female Calliope Hummingbird
Smallest of the US hummingbirds
Only 2 3/4 inches long, most other hummingbirds are more than 3 inches to almost 4 inches long.
Tiny little feathers rim her eye.
It was several hours of perseverance and sitting oh so still to take these photos. I was very pleased since I've never been able to get so many close-ups.
Your patience sure paid off! She is beautiful. My aunt used to call hummingbirds "thread toes" since their little feet are oh so tiny! Great photos
ReplyDeleteWonderful pictures. Well done. So beautiful to see.
ReplyDeleteThose are fabulous shots, really love the closeups. I have one that visits and it flew right up to my face and hovered in front of me, wish I had a camera then.
