Elk....

A view from my living room window...
so all the photos will have a glazed look.

The Elk hung around the house for hours,
laying in the deep snow.

Elk are the largest species in the Deer family...

Males weigh about 700 pounds...

And the females weigh about 500 pounds so
it gives you an idea how big they are.

Deep, deep snow...about two more feet from this snow storm.

  1. Great photos, I've got almost half that amount and more expected overnight. But no elk! We've had snow in December, January and now Februrary, unusual for the Vancouver area, it usually stays up in the mountains here.

  2. It's amazing to me that they lay out in the open instead of seeking some kind of shelter. Great photos. Thanks for sharing, Nancy.

  6. Beautiful creatures! With all that snow, are you stranded? Can you get out if you need/want to?

  7. You really have been getting a lot of snow, we have barely had any mostly flurries. They are so beautiful and so nice to be able to enjoy them from the house.

  8. Such impressive animals, so beautiful and elegant even though they are so large. Amazing they can just lie there in the cold.

  9. I would love to lay on a couch looking out at them and the snow and since it seems like heaven on earth to me I would probably take a nap! I lived in Idaho, Wallace Idaho as a teen. It was heaven on earth to me. Sometimes I daydream and look for land/home for sale in remote areas but I would miss my grandchildren if I went. Thank you again for sharing the wonderfulness of your world view!

  10. What beauty ful creatures!! And that snow!!! It is 80 degrees here in South Carolina today. Winter has been so very mild this year which makes me wonder if we will get carried off by bugs this summer. It is definitely unusual weather for us. Enjoy your day!!
