My beautiful, sweet Sidney who died on Monday.
Eighteen years of her companionship and memories...
If possible,
I believe Jim was weeping with me as she took her last breath.
Bailey has only known her for all of his 13 years,
I can tell he misses her.
Her remarkable friendship with a deer that lasted several years.
We who choose to surround ourselves with lives
even more temporary than our own live within a
fragile circle, easily and often breached.
Unable to accept its awful gaps,
we still would live no other way.
We cherish memory as the only certain immortality,
never fully understanding the necessary plan.

Sydney was an awesome feline! She's once again with her Jim and will be waiting for you many years down the road. Hug Bailey and perhaps know that there may yet be another soul waiting to be welcomed into your home. Find solace in your needle...
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, those deer photos are amazing! And she could have been the litter-mate of my old guy -- striking resemblance. What a wonderful life! Best wishes, Nancy.
ReplyDeleteOh Nancy, I am heartbroken to read about Sidney. What a beautiful kitty! My cats are my world too, and it is always so very hard when we lose one. I love all of her pictures, but especially the picture of her and your Jim. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs to you.

Heartily sorry to read this, bless you, hugs!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful pictures of Sidney's life. I believe that she and Jim are together now, perhaps with her deer friend, and they're watching over you and Bailey.

My heart hurts for you. When you lose a close friend like Sidney, you feel so like there could not be another you could love the same. I've been there, and don't even want to love another. And then God does that magic thing, and you realize you can add another love to your heart. It doesn't replace your original love, just room for more. My prayer for you.
ReplyDeleteSo hard, such a loss. Prayers of hope. Kat
ReplyDeleteNancy, I am so very sorry
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to read this. Losing a pet is always difficult, they are family members after all, you build a relationship with them, you have memories of them, you talk to them, you cuddle them, you look after them, they look after you, you build trust both ways. And 18 years is a really long time. Beautiful memories, lovely pictures. I wish you strength to cope with this loss.

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful girl Sidney was, and how lucky you were to have her for those many years. She will be physically missed, but in your heart forever. We lost our 21-year-old Maine Coon, Daisy, in January and there is not a day that goes by that I do not think of her.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to learn of Sidney's passing. It's heart-breaking to lose a beloved pet. Thank goodness for memories and photographs. Blessings to you.

ReplyDeleteMy condolences. My little Pixel is 20 and I know that I may not have her for very much longer. She is also a long haired kitty and looks like your Sidney.
ReplyDeleteBTW, you may want to update your profile blurb. There's also a grammatical error in it.
I am so sorry bout your kitty. I know how it tugs at our heartstrings..
ReplyDeleteMy son who is 57 has lost 2 kitties and had to deal with the grief. He now has a new tuxedo cat named Oz and would have it no other way. We can't help our attachments, they just get in those loving spaces and fill them up.
So very sorry for your loss but what wonderful memories you have of this beloved pet. The only thing that helps is time but .... I lost my westie Watson in June and still mourn him. We are so fortunate to have these animals in our lives even for a short time. I'm thankful for that.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for your loss. This must be hard for you. It was a part of Jim. You are in my thoughts Nancy
