The Season is Winding Down...

 
With cooler temps and snow at the higher elevations...finally. 
 This is the last of my ground squirrels to still be out and about.
 

 Packing on the pounds for a long hibernation underground, up to 6 months or longer.

Such sweet creatures.
 Curious enough to almost become tame if I wanted. 
 

 
I'll see their happy faces next Spring.

  2. That is so cute, I haven't seen any squirrels or chipmunks lately, wonder if the hawks got them. In NH, the red squirrels were busy collecting and they had acorns that were half their size, lol.

  6. I didn't know that there are ground squirrels and up to 6 months in hibernation, that is amazing. I hope that he has eaten enough! Do they store some away?
