Avery's Teardrop Penny Rug Kit

Is this not a gorgeous penny rug?  I was so taken with it the first time I saw it. This rug was designed and made by Cee who has a blog called The Diary of a Rugmaker.  Cee uses traditional methods to dye her wools, using onion skins to give her wools that aged colonial look.

I bought the kit from Cee's Etsy shop.  The kit included the aged background with all the wool pennies and teardrops cut as well the aged string for stitching.   I'm so looking forward to starting the process of reproducing one of Cee's rugs.

The link to Cee's blog and from there you can also find the link to her Etsy store,

  1. She has a nice Pinterest folder for antique pennies. I just got some new dies with my bday money and one is the penny circles.

  4. Janna, she may have sold out of that kit, but I see that she listed several awesome wool Christmas stocking kits.

  8. That IS a gorgeous penny rug! I'm glad to see you are still active on Blogger. I'm starting to get the itch to sew again, but I quit my internet so blogging will have to wait. Mom is in a bad way (non-alcoholic cirrohsis). I'm doing fine.
