Primitive Quilts & Projects Magazine

Did you all get your magazine in the mail yet?  Lots of fall projects to take the edge off the summer heat.  I found several designers who I had never heard of in the magazine.  One of my favorite designs is called Chocolate Bonbons, a pot of flowers appliqued on a rich chocolate background fabric, by Kay Harmon.

You can see the magazine is laying on Star Burst and I started the hand quilting with crochet cotton and the big stitch.

  1. Hi Nancy, I love that magazine! I have a question I was thinking of doing the big stitch to quilt a primitive quilt can I use black YLI thread as quilting thread or what do you suggest for quilting thread for your primitive quilts? Cheri

    1. Cheri, I use crochet cotton or perle cotton for the big stitch since I really want the stitch to show. I'll look up the size I use and what needle and post. Every quilter has their own favorite and you can certainly use regular thread, also.

  3. I'm loving the combination of quilting, it adds a lovely texture to the quilt.
The magazine looks great, the Churn Dash block on the quilt on the cover is one of my favourite blocks.
Can't wait to see the chocolate bon bons.

Hi Jody, I just finished the great pumpkin in this falls primitive, I use a lot of recycled wool in my projects, thinks picture I was able to use a barn board from ,I gave it to my daughter along with are finished school house desk dateded early1900s, looks great in a corner of her kitchen.I believe in using old things and making them new, think I will have to work hard at this ,as I retired this summer to help my 87 and 88 year old parents, and. Needed to free my soul of my work, my new work is my passion, always has been ,enjoy your magazines I love them too simplified life Marilyn
