Wash Day and You Know, Wildlife

My version of Primitve Primer from Jan Patek & Sue Spargo.
I made two lap quilts from the original design.  Have to post the other half when I wash it.  I stitched it with needle turn applique.
The book is from 2000 when I made the quilts.  It's a great prim book if you have never seen it.
Can you see the marmot, he's flatten himself on the rocks so he thinks I can't see him.  They hibernate in the winter, this one probably hibernates in the rocks below the house.  They make the funniest noise when they are alarmed and stand on their hind legs to look around.  Related to the squirrel family, but they only eat grass.

  4. I love seeing a quilt hanging on your clothesline. We can't have clotheslines in our housing development.

So that's a marmot. I hear they like to get underneath cars and chew on the wires and stuff. I can't remember where here in California we were talking about camping once and that was one of the warnings, that you needed to put screen around the bottom of your vehicle so they couldn't do that. Weird! Cute though.

  7. If I lived closer you'd have to be careful what you put out on the line. :) Some 'chipmunk' might come along and take your quilts. :D
