Log Cabin block from the Collector Series

I finished all the applique on the last Imperial Blooms and am now embellishing so needed a break.  If I would break down and spend the money or just remember to buy those little cushion pads for one's fingers, can't wear a regular thimble, I wouldn't have such sore fingers.  I keep hoping to come across those jelly like thimbles in town that have worked for me before.  I need to actually try one on. Anyway, started another block from the Collector Series instead.  The Log Cabin block.
Cut the strips for the logs, a pic of an extra project that comes with each pattern block.  Can't tell from the pic, but it's fabric applique with embroidery to make a sampler.
Sewed the strips, how I love this old fabric.  Cut out the freezer paper templates, iron them on, cut out the patterns.  I never mark fabric, just cut a scant seam allowance to turn under.
Glue basted and ready to hand stitch, outside I go since it has been raining for several days, which is good, but it's also nice to sit in the sun.  I find a lot of contentment in doing that.

  2. Wonderful new block, love doing houses. I have a few smaller ones that I will make this year, can keep them or give as presents, and nice to have small things to make. Still waiting for my thumb to heal, hurts and it's a bit numb, think I hit a nerve, so hard to do hand stitching.

  6. Your blocks are looking great. My craft shop sells those soft rubbery thimbles. I tried one on but haven't bought it yet, it seemed to fit well.

  13. Mickaela, the Collector Series is an old BOM. Jan Patek has it right now as a BOM, but it started in January. I bought my patterns on EBay years ago.
