The Feathered Star

This is the girl gang project from Jan Patek from several years ago, all hand did, took well over a year just to complete the applique and I was going to machine quilt it, did a small portion, didn't like it so I removed all the machine quilting which wasn't that much thank goodness, and am waiting to hand quilt it. I tend to do more hand quilting in the winter time. This is a huge quilt, queen size and it's hanging outside on our house for me to get a full picture.

Thanks for all the welcomes and comments, have met quite a few nice ladies in the past few days.

  1. So - what made the call, what was the difference between the machine quilting and the hand quilting? It's a beautiful quilt. So much detail.

Lovely... How did you attach it to the house?

  3. It's a beauty. Hand quilting is so relaxing. Nothing like taking a few moments to cuddle under your quilt and put in a few stitches.

  7. Someday I'd love to learn how to handquilt - I hear so many people talk about how wonderful it is. I love handwork so it would be right up my alley. Your quilt is beautiful.

  8. Looks really great Nancy - I'd forgotten you had your top all together. That is one of the projects I hope to get back to next year - I'm not going to sign up for any more BOM's until I get a bunch of the things I already have finished.

  9. Melanie, I just figured with all the hard work of hand applique the quilt deserved to be hand quilted, will use the big stitch which I like alot, goes faster and you don't have to worry about the size of your stitches and will use linen thread, my husband, actually wants it for his bed, we don't sleep together anymore, he snores, so he said it would be nice to sleep under a quilt with my name on it.

Calico cat, I just used push pins for the pic.

Thanks for all the great comments.
