The Marriage Pen Wiper Rug

I am beyond thrilled to have finished The Marriage Pen Wiper Rug.

An Anniversary gift for friends of mine and finished in the nick of time.
The idea behind it is that of a family tree stitched in thread.

The kit was from Cee Rafuse of Early Style Penny Rugs on Etsy.
The aged wools and string give it an antique look and style.

  1. This is beautiful, Nancy. I love the idea that it's a family tree. And it looks like there's plenty of space to add more members, too! Is each piece sewn to the ones next to it or is there a backing and they are sewn to it? Is it wool?

    1. Hi Nancy, Each wool piece is sewn to the cotton backing. Once all the embroidery is completed an additional tack stitch is added to keep the pieces in place.
