Remembering Jim

12-27-1952 / 3-20-2011

Lift me like an olive branch and be my homeward dove.  Dance with me to the end of love.

Leonard Cohen

I have only slipped away into the next room.  I am I, and you are you.  Whatever we were to each
other, that we are still.  Call me by my familiar name, speak to me in the easy way you always used.  Put no difference in your tone, wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.  Laugh as we have always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.  Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.  Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.  Let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of a shadow on it.  Life means all that it ever meant.  It was the same as it ever was, an unbroken continuity.  Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?  I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner.
All is well.

  1. That would be beautiful to stitch around the quilt.
BIg hugs, I know how there are days when the memories hurt, and hoping that the days to come become full of blessings and happy memories.

  13. Dear Nancy,
I'm reading this tonight with a heavy heart for my kids who are dealing with life threatening illness as you know, but the writing was so uplifting. To remember that way, to carry on because we must, and to find joy each and every day in the memories and in the future that God holds for us til we meet again, those are the things to hold close. God bless you dear friend!

  14. Dear Nancy, What a sweet tribute. You were a lucky woman to love and know someone like Jim. It doesn't help in the missing of him but you were a lucky woman and he was a lucky man. Hugs Cheri
