A Purse and Wildlife

About the only sewing I was able to accomplish the last few days.  The wildlife and chores are distracting me.  Made this easy little prim purse for a friend, a basic Maggie B pattern except I quilted the fabric since I wasn't going to add any applique.

A baby marmot along the drive, I was taking a walk after dinner and caught him by surprise.  Were was Mom to warn him, he raised his head to see what was going on.

Must not have liked what was happening, he dropped down in this hole under a rock.  Can you see him in the center of the pic,  he still has a piece of grass in his mouth, next time I bet he's stays on alert or closer to mom.

Another surprise, for me, that is, the pronghorn so close to the house.  This is a male with the dark horns, females only have nubs, such an exotic animal.

He made a circle around the house, just in time to scare the female elk who finally decided to come down from the hill to graze.  I've been keeping an eye out for her since I saw a mountain lion coming down from the same area the other night.  The cats and I were glued to the screen, watching the lion as it slowly walked the edge of the rocks at the base of the mountain.

A female pronghorn that was following the male, they ended up with the rest of the herd down in the lower meadow.

I love the purse! I bet your friend will love it also. I look forward to seeing what wildlife has wandered in front of your camera. Everything looks so majestic where you are. My husband and I hope to travel out west someday when he retires! Thank you for sharing. Erica in WV

  2. Love your purse, the fabrics really make it.
I am not sure if I saw a marmot before, but fun little critter.
Today we had a doe and every critter and bird that was hiding in the bushes, come crashing through the yard when the flying tigers did a run over our house.

  7. Like all of your purses! Beautiful!

On Saturday we were yards away from a momma moose and her baby. We stayed close to the truck and at one point I literally shoved all of my kids into the truck as the momma decided she wanted to cross the parking lot and head into some trees where we were at. We were at a ski area.

    Amazing creatures up close!

  8. your pictures of the wildlife on your property are amazing,,,and I love the primitive style of quilting. I can't imagine living where you could see such animals right in your own yard or from your kitchen window??? Living here in southern Ca. it seems like you are in another world. I loved the Bird dance quilt too. Just looking around on your blog and had to comment..
