Barn Door Hex Quilt and Cowboys

I posted a picture of this quilt back in 2006.  I have it hanging in the dining room on the ceiling.  I was inspired by a barn door painting that I had seen in an old Country Living magazine.  Needle turn applique and I actually machine quilted it.  It still bothers me, ever so slightly, that the inner circle is wonky, but you don't notice it with it being on the ceiling.
You would think this picture of cowboys herding cattle are from up the road.  Who would have thought that back in '89, when Jim and I were traveling through Montana and I took this picture, that we would soon be living not far away.  We were on a month long vacation, from Texas, through Montana and Idaho, Canada and on to Washington, looking for a new home.

  4. I find your barn hex quilt very interesting. What a creative idea to make something you have seen in a photo into fabric.

  6. I have always loved that quilt . . . ever consider publishing a pattern? *s*

The cattle drive photo is fab. I love how the cowboy and his dog are looking at one another. There is surely a silent conversation going on there.
