Musings

Well, it's been a while, almost a month, and I'm already getting to go back to work on Monday, so happy to be without pain, so happy my surgery and recovery was flawless, so happy to have a job to go back to when so many are losing their jobs, yet you can feel the fear in the air of what is to become of our country and economy.
So I continue to make do as I usually do. I grew up in a family that didn't have much, so this is nothing new to me to know how to cut back. Spam is making a comeback, can remember when we had to eat that meat out of a can, Jim said he'd eat a deer before it came to that, so that's really saying something, since neither one of us could kill a thing, and if we did, we wouldn't know what to do with it.

Some pics to take one's mind off the serious stuff, a beautiful quilt from the Newsletter Mag, 2006, a member of my group has been looking for it and would you believe I have it, in that stack of mags you just can't part with. It will be on the way to her on Monday.

And some make do projects, a felted pillow, to sell or give as a gift, the felted material was given to me by a friend because it looks like a mountain and I was able to open the felted material enough to make a pillow, closed with a button hole stitch with perle cotton.

And then a tote, another something to sell, or give as a gift, the leather handles are from an old purse I used up, wool applique and real antler buttons for the closures.

  2. That is a lovely tote - a great idea to reuse parts of old purses. Glad you are feeling better and able to go back to work.

  3. Oh I'm so glad to hear that recovery was good and your soon back to work! Well not that work is fun - but you know! I jsut spent the last month leafing through 2 huge paper boxes of old magazines Laura sent home with me. I cut out the ones I loved and put them in a big album! Now I have a fun dream book!

  5. Lovely projects. I like the way you recycle. I get so discusted of this throw away generation. I do hope you have recovered from the deer incident. Playing abit of catch up. I have to figure out what I'm doing wrong here. I am so behind in life. I just cannot seem to catch up. Keep well!
