BOAF and a Bear

Working on my second block of Birds of a Feather, have it all basted and ready to applique, spending a quiet afternoon sewing also on my black primitive quilt when the cats told me to go look outside. We have our first bear, don't usually see them in the middle of the afternoon, he had already destroyed several feeders, with my camera, pistol and cane in hand, I went to scare him off, he was not thrilled with me bothering him while he ate the rest of the seed. He came at me once and a shot over his head didn't bother him in the least. I chased him into the raven, but he came back later, digging up ant hills, looking for more seed and drinking from the bird baths.

  1. Nancy - naughty, naughty bear! But you got some AWESOME pictures of him. I can't believe he ignored the pistol! Oh and look at the background in you pictures. Boy would I love to come visit! It is beautiful!

  2. Oh my, you are brave. I'm glad the worst I have to contend with here is my cats trying to grab an unsuspecting bird at the feeders. We have some predators here, but of course nothing that size and they stay out of sight. It must be great to have all that wildlife so near.

  6. Hi Nancy
Your email is set to no reply so I couldn't send you information about the Janet Bolton books but if you look on Amazon, you will see she has a number of very cool books. I have been able to get a few out of the library and plan to look for them when we go to the UK this summer

  9. Wow, that's quite the pet you have. I've only seen a deer in our yard one early summer morning. At least I now knew who ate the flowers off my pumpkin patch! Your block looks lovely.
