Prim inspiration

I love primitive quilts, dark and moody, these are two quilts I made a year or so ago, just love needle turn applique, slows me down and love the feel of the fabric in my hands with each turn of the needle. Not much for the sewing machine unless I just have too, and of course you have to use one sometimes. The first is a quilt I made for a friend who was leaving where I worked, those are signature blocks around the border and the quilt is called Tree of Friendship.

This second is a quilt I made just playing around with a checkerboard center and then hand appliqued the vines, flowers and flying geese, don't even like to make flying geese with the machine.

  1. Welcome to the world of blogging Nancy! I think you'll find it most enjoyable. I know I do. It's almost like a diary or journal of my days and my quilting. I find peace and solace in writing posts, and have made many friends. I feel so badly about not posting on our list for some time - I keep meaning to but time just gets away from me. It's a huge handicap not being able to access Yahoo Groups at work. I do much of my blog reading during break time at work, as well as my email reading, but it's hard to find time for posting - especially when I can't see what everyone is talking about. I look forward to more writing by you!

  2. Oh I don't think I"ve seen the second one, I LOVE it! And I just love the colors of those 2. As hard as I try to make mine muddy my stuff doesn't come out with the same feel as your stuff. Oh well.

  3. Welcome to Blogland, Nancy!!! So tickled to find your blog--Dawn sent us over! Are you the same Nancy who used to post the marvelous wildlife stories on PrimFolkApplique Yahoo group? I really have missed those wonderful--oftentimes thrilling-- stories from you, if so. Love your prim quilts--very inspiring to me.

  4. Dawn recommended your site and your work is beautiful. I've always wanted to see your 'neck of the woods'. I can't wait to see more quilts from Montana---

  5. Thanks guys, I'm getting the hang of it, except I still can't make the links on the right hand border, of course I deleted everything, so now I don't have anything to try to copy from. Dawn will help me.

  6. Welcome to BlogLand. I popped over on a recommendation from Dawn and I'm so glad I did. Your quilts are just wonderful -- I don't think I've ever met a primitive I didn't like. Brannock and Patek fabrics are my fav's too. Look forward to seeing more.
