Luggard...

This is Luggard, my foster elephant.

On World Wildlife Day...
a remarkable story of the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust...

Dedicated to the preservation of Africa's elephants and rinos.

Luggard was found with a broken leg
shattered by bullets by poachers.

His recovery made possible by a caring team of professionals.

Despite his injury and pain, this little boy has succeeded
in healing and joining the other herd.

"The greatest privilege that comes with free speech is...

the right to use your voice for those that don't have one."

You can find out more about the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust
and individual stories about each of the foster elephants and their recovery.

  1. It is horrible what they get away with over there and glad to see that they are doing more to help the animals who are being poached.

  2. Such a good post. Always so glad when I see a post from you. Good job getting involved with this organization, even tho it is so sad that there is a need for this. Glad Luggard recovered so well. Thanks for sharing

  3. Oh, Nancy your elephant & ours just might be friends! In Feb 2017 I fostered an elephant with the same organization, and told my husband no flowers or chocolates for our wedding anniversary you have a baby elephant as a gift! This past Feb I did the same and renewed our sponsorship for 2 years. The David Sheldrick Wildlife Tst do such amazing good work!

  6. What a wonderful story and a wonderful quote. The cruelty of some people never ceases to amaze me. Thank you for helping to save Luggard.

  7. Nancy, this is such a wonderful post! I don't know why I've never heard of this organization but they are amazing and I will be looking into fostering an elephant too. I so agree with your other comments about the cruelty and evilness of humans - there are no words.
