Working on a small primitive project...
Dahlia Wall Hanging
From Jan Patek's Twixt Garden Gates, 1997
I favor these older designs from Jan.
Hard to see, but there is bright orange embroidery surrounding
the flowers which sets off the design.
I'm going to hand quilt it with linen thread
and then add the embroidery.
This is the Twixt Garden Gates quilt on the back
of the booklet. I love the 'hugeness'
of the applique.
Lovely!

Oh my goodness I love these flowers. And the background, too. How long and wide is the panel on which they're stitched? It's hard to tell size from the photo.)
ReplyDeletelovely, will you be doing the whole quilt? I personally like the flowers on their own, what is happening with the wild fires out west? Our news has not covered the fires.
ReplyDeleteSo sweet. Wonderful Fall project.
ReplyDeletelong a favorite book and design...looking great Nancy!
ReplyDeleteThat is one of Jan's books that I never purchased. Looks like a good one.
ReplyDeleteNice design. Would work up nicely in wool as well.
ReplyDeleteThis is so whimsical and fun. This is a Jan Patek book that I haven't seen before. Enjoy seeing what I missed before the kids were raised and I had time for quilting. Jan's designs don't seem to get old or out of date. I like that.
ReplyDeleteLove your new project. Such wonderful flowers. hug, lj
