A Very Red Wool Hat

I finished this wool hat a few days ago.
I bet it's been a year since I worked on it.
I really have to be in the mood to make them now.
I tend to make them on a whim when I'm motivated by
color or fabric or a request for one of my hats.

I was motivated by the wool background that I bought from the thrift store.
A beautiful wool plaid that originally was a pillow cover.
The lining is a pink brushed flannel.

This hat is larger than what I usely make.
The size is closer to that of a toboggan
so that it fits low and loose on your head.

  11. I love how you used red on red for the applique and hat. I suspect the photographs probably don't do justice to the original, though. I try to imagine the texture from the applique and all the rubies and garnets in the flowers and leaves dancing around the hat. I love it when fabric sparks the inspiration!
