The Emily Munroe Quilt

The Emily Munroe Quilt...
A Civil War era quilt made
entirely of wool backgrounds with wool appliqué.
These are all of my blocks basted together
back in August when I last worked on it.

Since finishing some other projects, I can get back to it.
I love the simplicity of the wool applique and the early primitive style.

It looks to me that as Emily started to get to the end of he quilt,
she used less and less couching and embellishment.

A photo of the entire quilt as provided by Hoopla Patterns.
The Emily Munroe Quilt is part of the historic
collection of the New England Quilt Museum.

  6. Ah, yes, don't we all "simplify" as we get to the end? Your version is so beautiful!

  11. You are right that there is a difference in the blocks. Maybe it is two different pattern sets? It is fun to speculate. Yours is coming along well!

  13. This a very nice quilt. It is actually the first time I'm 'visiting' you here. To me this is quite a new way of making quilts....and your photo's of wildlife are beautiful too. So much to see.... I will come back.
