Baptist Fan Big Stitch

Hard to believe that I have never used a stencil for hand quilting.  I decided for whatever reason to order a baptist fan stencil and try it.  Think I might just like it.  I've never marked a quilt with chalk either.  All these years to try something new.  It wasn't difficult and I like the look.

Thanks so much for all the warm comments.  Means so much.  This morning was more difficult than I thought, thinking back to last year when Jim left the house for the last time, with the doves leading the way.

  2. Your baptist fan quilting looks great. I too love hand quilting this pattern and mostly use a free hand style learned on Bonnie Hunter's blog. my stitches sometimes wander, but all looks okay in the end. I faithfully read your blog and have followed your journey. Hugs to you during this time.

  3. Looks wonderful, perfect design for that quilt. For mine, I used the rolling chalk pen and just drew it on and then went to town, lol.

  6. I am happy that you have stopped by my blog as I have discovered a very inspiratonal one in yours with many primitive and folk art projects. I love this small quilt ;-)
Quilting as well as cross-stitch has always been very helpful for me in difficult time.

  7. Hi Nancy, I love the little house quilt! Your quilting looks great too! I haven't used a stencil in years, but might have to drag some out and see what I have! Something nice about just marking it on there with a stencil, and then just quilting without having to plan along the way!

  9. Do you pin the stencil in place cause I know you said you don't mark your material. How does it work. I love the look of the Baptist fan design. constanceoc@yahoo.com
