Montana pics

No quilting to speak of, the weather has been harsh, so I posted some pics of the Big Horns that have come down from the higher elevations, and even the Elk are down, pictured is a femal Elk or cow as they are called and a view of the mountains for Lucy.

November's Song

This was a BOM from Jan Patek, decided I would never finish the entire quilt so I've made it into a lap quilt and am handquilting it with linen thread using the big stitch. I'm using good old masking tape to mark my lines, still taking me way too long to finish it, but hopefully this weekend I can finally finish it and get it binded.

Looking for Family

I was going thru some of my Mother's things and found a family tree that she had started. Now that there is only myself and my two brothers left in our family, I wonder where our heritage came from. My Great Grandfather was Jose Simo from Balearic Island in Spain and he married Antonia Delgado who was born in Gaderyeta, Mexico. They had five children, Vicente married Amelia Fatine and they had three children, one being my Mother, Amelia. My Grandfather changed their name from Simo to Simon by adding an n to his last name for whatever reason, so most of my relatives that would still be alive would have the family name of Simo. I think most of them that are still alive in Texas or Mexico. I'm searching for them. These are pictures of my Father, Mother and me.

Sue Spargo's Folklore

Top is finished! I've decided not add the additional wool border, Sue sent a wonderful blue and brown polk-a-dot fabric for the binding and I think that will suit it just fine. My favorite fabric block is the giraffe with his yarn, twisty tail. I can see him in a baby quilt. All those dots in the background of him are wool whole punches stitched on my hand, well, everything is done by hand, my favorite form of slow quilting.

Primitive Checkerboard & a Bald Eagle

I made this quilt several years ago and you just never know when someone else is going to like your work, especially when it's primitive, so glad Fons & Porter took a liking to it, it's in the Spring issue of Easy Quilts. And it is easy, the applique is needleturn, even the geese but the
pieces are big, so it doesn't take that long.

And then, can't post without a wildlife creature, a friend of mine took this picture of our resident Bald Eagle along the river where the clinic is located.

Sacrifices

we make for quilting, I now have my old deer head, (I detest trophy hunting so this is big,) that I had rescued from a garage sale many years ago in my bedroom in an effort to find space for my design wall. Every time I saw Kathie's huge design wall and the ability to leave and come back, etc, etc, all the good things about a permanent design wall. My fabric room is across the hall from my bedroom so it may not be big, but at least I can put up either flannel or batting to start a small design space instead of having to use the closet doors and masking tape.

A couple of pics

to show my progress on Folklore, finished the last border yesterday and just need to machine sew the corner squares and then make a decision on whether to add another wool border like Sue Spargo did with hers. Will have to play with it, and then of course think about buying that much wool to get the length I need.

And of course a pic of our herd of Big Horns, taking turns at the salt lick.

Bailey

I was going thru some old pictures and found these pics of Bailey when he was a kitten and then how big and husky he has gotten now. He was such a tiny kitten, oh and he is still so sweet.

January 1, 2008

A new year, will we make the changes that we resolve to make for ourselves, lose weight, spend less, be hard on ourselves instead if we fail to make those resolutions last, be nice to yourself, make that a resolution as well, and share that caring to those that mean so much to you.
The best to all of you in the coming new year.
