Another bear & Folklore blocks

Was upstairs yesterday working on some applique when I heard my husband yell, "Nancy, there's a bear in the backyard", I'm the official bear chaser, so out I go and only got one good pic of him before he took off running, which was good, since we don't want any bears becoming acclimated to the area, up here the bears only get three chances, scare them off, then catch them and relocate them and if they return, they get shot, so we always run them off and take in the bird feeders at night so they don't keep coming back. Saw him one more time after supper and I scared him again, off he ran up the hill behind the house, I could hear him grunting and huffing and puffing as he ran.

Those are two of the four blocks in the latest installment of Sue Spargo's Folklore, just love how this quilt is looking.

Also added the wool applique to the black quilt, very simplistic, still working on that.

  1. You and your bears! I laugh at the picture - your husband calling "Help! Bear! (OK - I'm taking poetic license here!) and you running to "save" him. Supergirl!!!! We all love your wildlife stories - particularly the bear stories!

This latest by Sue Spargo is going to be a real beauty. I bet you are enjoying every minute you get to work on it. I'm also fascinated by the black quilt. I never would have thought to do something like that but I think it's going to be so striking. I can hardly wait to see what you will applique on it.

  2. Birds - not bears. Chase birds...be careful.. Every time I read a post, I think---This is the best season for Nancy... You find good in every one of them

  3. Maybe the bear just wants to be a friendly neighbor - okay, I doubt it, but I can hope *s* Surely he will soon get the idea to stay away.

  6. Here in the UK I can't even begin to think what it would be like to find a bear in your back garden - too mind blowing to contemplate! How the other half live eh?
