Cat Fight

Oh, I'll get to the cat fight that has been going on for days, at least I was able to stitch something the last few days, another spring purse.  I love the combination of brown with pink, otherwise, not really a "bright" fabrics person.
Bailey, come down here.

NO!

As only a Burmese can say it, imagine that high pitch scream a baby can give when they are really, really unhappy.

Why?

Sidney smells.

She can't help it.

Don't care.  She smells really, really bad.

She had to go to the animal doctor, you know, to see the vet.

I know what a vet is.  I'm a Burmese, remember.

Look at her.

Her feelings are hurt, she won't even come upstairs.

Don't care.  I'm a cat, we don't have to have a reason for what we do.

You can wake me when you get rid of that smell on her.  Or she's gone from the bottom of the stairs.  I am hungry, weak and I'm tired, haven't slept a wink in the last few days.   I can't even remember when I last ate.  This has been going on for too long.

You can leave me now, let me know when you have taken care of things.  It wouldn't hurt you to give her a bath, you could stop stitching long enough to do that.
Maybe, did have time to prep the Imperial Blooms block while I considered giving Sidney a bath.

My Maggie's Purse is Finished

My Maggie purse is finished, the front. I added straps this time and now I think I will go back and add straps to the red one since I like the way it looks and hangs.
The back.
Mom put my heating pad on her bed with my quilts so I could be in the same room with her while she stitched.  I'm so comfy that I'm afraid I may snore. It's so embarrassing when that happens.

My Maggie's Purse in Progress

One side of the my Maggie purse finished, love this color of wool and the multi colored embellishment threads.  I just happen to have that big vintage button with just the right color on hand to add to it.

Start of another Maggie Purse and a View from my Window

The start of another Maggie purse from the Primitive Quilt magazine, love this wool, can't describe the color, like a brownish pink.  Happen to have some great embellishment threads and then will find some stash wools for the stems and leaves.

A view from my window, can sit at the computer and this is what I see.  A couple of inches of snow last night.

Maggie's White Purse in Red

I started the little purse that Maggie designed that I posted earlier from the Primitive Quilts & Projects magazine.  Red being my favorite color and having this thrift red wool, decided to use it.  I ended up adding a thin batting to stabilize the wool and hand quilted it a touch with perle cotton.  I couched some wool yarn in addition to the applique.  Just need to add the straps and the button closure.  It was a quick and easy little purse to make, think I make actually keep it for myself.

Front of Zipper Purse

Dorothy, here's the front of the zipper purse, I cut wool strips with pinking shears, hope that's how it's spelled and stitched them over the zippers with wool thread, first with a straight stitch and then a whip stitch.

Zipper Purse finally, finally Finished

I'm not one to make something for someone when they say they want any black wool purse, do whatever, or have someone say will you make this quilt for me, show me a picture and inside I'm saying "are you serious" and by when. That was last year and now I have completed my one and only obligation and if she likes it, okay, if not, will sell it else where, don't make me explain about the zippers. (Don't look at the cat hairs either) I ended up adding more thread embellishment with a buttonhole stitch on top of the trim and the strap to give the black some contrast and just a meanering straight, overall stitch to the purse, all with wool thread.

Thank you for the comments, a sadness swept over me yesterday, watching the birds from the door and I saw a Lazuli Bunting for the first time this spring, and I whispered, Jim, we have a Lazuli Bunting, a slip of the tongue, something I would have said to him many times over, and such a small thing to bring such sadness.

Well, blogger won't let me upload the front with the zippers, so just picture zippers.

Progress on the Zipper Purse

Always inspired by Sue Spargo's out of the box designs, the zippers have wool applique over them to hold them in place and add additional texture. You probably wonder why zippers. I had seen an interior designer in Country Living who made ottomans and coverlets covered in zippers several years ago, her name is Sandy Stone. Not the lady who has just come out with the zipper flowers and such.

Sandy Stone remakes old chairs with belts also, neckties, measuring tape, really, really neat items, which I'm also doing on my old wicker oak chairs where

the wicker webbing is giving away, you don't know hard it is to find "big belts" to cover the width of the chair seat.

Anyway, back to the purse, decided on the zippers for the purse, someone at the clinic had wanted it last year and am just getting back to it. The flower on the other side will be the pocket, cut the zipper into smaller pieces and embellished with more wool strips, pennies and some beads. The fabric at the top will be the lining and the back of the strap. I quilted the wool first so it wouldn't stretch.

The Beginning of the Zipper Purse & Yes, a Deer

I had seen some pictures of a designer in Country Living, Sandy Stone, who uses found objects to make stuff, everything from covering chairs, quilts, with zippers, ties, belts. So not having enough zippers yet and I have been collecting lots for a quilt, I've decided to make a zipper purse, I've quilted the black wool and then will stitch the zippers by hand with a decorative thread on the front and a few on the back with a pocket. Hopefully a one of a kind purse someone will like.

And then the sweet little mule baby, who looks just a little miserable in the cold.

The Irish Purse

It took me four days to figure out the software on this little camera, pure frustration since I do consider myself some what literate when it comes to computers, this was worse than a cell phone, too many itty bitty buttons.

Anyway, here is the Irish purse finally, a Celtic knot on the front and since the lady is also a realtor, I appliqued a house and a sold sign, had to make it a little funky. All wool and all wool applique with a green plaid homespun for the lining which I quilted to keep it all from stretching.

Yellowstone purse and more Big Horns

We are in the midst of a winter storm weather warning, we have four feet drifts here on the property and can not drive out until we get someone to plow the road. Even the roads in and around Livingston are closed as is the interstate, emergency travel only, so I was relieved to hear the clinic was closed tomorrow so I wouldn't have to beg off. So I was able to take more pics of the Big Horns who are staying close to the house and even the Rams are getting use to me going out and shoveling now and then. They are beyond gorgeous. Should see the little ones trying to make their way thru the snow. So I also had time to start a new purse, the Yellowstone purse, made from an old army blanket with holes and penny circles appliqued and then an old pic of a campsite in the park on the back side. Need to add a few more pennies to the back of the purse. And then a brushed cotton fabric lining that matches the strap. Isn't it odd that those two pics were taken in the same light, yet looks like different color wool, the correct color is army green as in the first picture.

Square roots purse, big horns and more snow

Completed the Square Roots purse, that was my goal today. Love how it turned out, I could keep this one, more me, the colors that is. Then get the truck out of the snow, which I did and since we were running out of stuff, made a slow run on the snow and ice to Gardiner. Pics of all the snow, the three pics of the big horns are from my upstairs window this morning and one is from the highway, our house is actually up there, I can see it, but it's like a dot to anyone else and the driveway to the house, behind the beautiful snow covered trees.

More Progress on the Square Roots purse

Finished appliqueing the front and the back of the purse, the first pic is the back, that's the lining in the background, an off color burnt orange flannel, will use it to back the wool shoulder strap also. I love the look using shears on wool. An art, prim, wool wallhanging seems to be in order. Thanks to the ladies at Joined at the Hip for this inspiration.

Inspiration from Square Roots

Finished by block of bee skeps from the Collector Series, would have taken a pic, but it looks the same before I appliqued it using the needle turn method, and will put that aside for awhile, projects for Christmas to do, even if not quite in that mood yet. So I stared at the Square Roots mat picture for a very long time, thinking of how to make it into a purse that would hold up to the wear and tear of a purse and be different but the same in the way the wool is used. A pic of my progress so far. Will sew the edges of the wool down and still use perle or wool thread for embellishment down the middle. Will make the big square into a pocket. Will keep weaving before I sew it all down. And then something like it to the other side.

Would you believe a doc at work has asked me to make an Irish purse, what is an irish purse, those celtic things on it. And green. This one will be tough.
