A Day at Sunny Brook by Maggie Bonanomi

I was thrilled to learn last week that I had won this book from Sue of Simply Pieceful Quilting and she even included a wonderful wool in a great prim color.  Sue has a beautiful blog, she's nice, always leaves a comment and is a primitive quilt lover.  Here's a link to her blog,

Some pictures of the projects in the book.  You can't deny Maggie's style.  A big white wool blanket with stars.

I so love white with a dark applique.  A linen and wool tea cloth.  Love the way she designed the scallop edges.

My favorite, easy quilt from the book.  Big squares of wool with a big scalloped edge.

I can think winter and I could definitely use a warmer bed blanket.

A Purse

Finished the pink purse and will soon be on it's way to a very sweet, pretty little girl.  I hope she likes it.

Playing with my camera, taking pictures of my past purse projects that I have made for my project journal.  In the last few years,  I started taking pictures of all the quilts and projects I have made in the past for a memory photo journal.

The Wool Purse and Hat are Finished

I finished my wool purse based on Maggie Bonanomi's pattern that was in the Primitive Quilts & Projects Magazine.  This is the front.  I do get carried away with embellishing.

Such a great pattern.  This is the back with the wool closure folded over.  Have found that a magnet is not really needed to keep it in place.  If you place the straps just close enough in from the edge, it will hold the wool in place. 

The entire back folded out, yep, I do love to embellish on wool.  That Sue Spargo influence.  No surface left bare, or until your fingers start hurting.  I used the vintage fabric from Brannock & Patek for the lining, straps and also for the lining of the hat.

The hat.  Same embellishing and lining fabric with an embellishment stitch on the top of the hat.

I need, I must make myself draw up the pattern for the hat.  Will let you all know when I make myself do that.

 

The Wool Purse

Almost finished with the applique on this wool Maggie purse.  Stitching the lining for the hat today.

Why are Bailey's paws peeking out from under the quilts?

Got snow, that's why.

Wool Ornaments and Straps

I stitched a few more wool ornaments.  I small piece of jewelry for one and a vintage button for another.

I added a thin strap to the red Maggie purse.  Hangs just right now.

My Maggie's Purse is Finished

My Maggie purse is finished, the front. I added straps this time and now I think I will go back and add straps to the red one since I like the way it looks and hangs.

Mom put my heating pad on her bed with my quilts so I could be in the same room with her while she stitched.  I'm so comfy that I'm afraid I may snore. It's so embarrassing when that happens.

One side of the my Maggie purse finished, love this color of wool and the multi colored embellishment threads.  I just happen to have that big vintage button with just the right color on hand to add to it.

Start of another Maggie Purse and a View from my Window

The start of another Maggie purse from the Primitive Quilt magazine, love this wool, can't describe the color, like a brownish pink.  Happen to have some great embellishment threads and then will find some stash wools for the stems and leaves.

The Red Purse

To add straps or not?  

Maggie's White Purse in Red

I started the little purse that Maggie designed that I posted earlier from the Primitive Quilts & Projects magazine.  Red being my favorite color and having this thrift red wool, decided to use it.  I ended up adding a thin batting to stabilize the wool and hand quilted it a touch with perle cotton.  I couched some wool yarn in addition to the applique.  Just need to add the straps and the button closure.  It was a quick and easy little purse to make, think I make actually keep it for myself.
