Imperial Blooms Borders and Deer Me
I finished all the applique on the scallops and have them pinned to the wool border. One or two of the circles are of a different fabric so I wanted to place them just so. Think it looks good. Love how all the different shades of the background wools flow, like an artist painted them, Sue does have the most beautiful wools. Will applique the scallops, sew the borders and then add the final embellishment stitches around the scallops. This is sewing backwards, but I don't want to catch any embellishment stitches when I sew the borders on.
Yesterday I was sitting in the sun and stitching, and a doe came up with some others. She looks pregnant, sheddding her winter coat so not looking her best, but healthy.
She has her yearling with her. They weren't sure of the ladder, too nervous to attempt to steal any seed. A drink of water and they were on their way.

Primitive Starburst and Wildlife, of course
I decided to show a picture of my Primitive Starburst that I've been hiding so to speak, just the top for now, finished the applique the other day. Now I'm trying to decide whether to quilt it by hand which will be forever since there's a line forming or machine quilt it, that I can get to sooner. Liking the idea of machine quilting to enhance all the applique since the applique pieces are so large and lots of background fabric to be quilted, rather densely, I think. Anyway, just thinking.
Pictures from the past, several summers ago as you can see from the green grass. Green grass doesn't last long up here. A beautiful white tail buck in his velvet antlers. If I recall, he was looking at one of the cats.
Such an oddity of nature to see velvet antlers.

A Cross Quilt and Deer
I've been working on another cross quilt from Jim's shirts, a block here and there between other projects. The blocks are large with needle turn applique crosses so I think will only need four more blocks for a queen size quilt. My quilt projects in progress line the wall in my fabric room.
White tail deer from a year or so ago, looking forward to spring and summer to see the next generation.
Their little legs look like twigs, but they can run.

Sidney and Her Deer
I haven't been sewing much, painting instead and going thru old pictures. This one is of Sidney and her deer friend from a few years ago. I love this picture.
I updated my slide show with wildlife pictures of the past.
And on the sidebar is a link to a YouTube video of Jim's niece's husband who went to Haiti on a mission to rebuild a church. When the world and especially our country seems to be in turmoil, an uplifting video with music.

The Beginning of the Zipper Purse & Yes, a Deer
I had seen some pictures of a designer in Country Living, Sandy Stone, who uses found objects to make stuff, everything from covering chairs, quilts, with zippers, ties, belts. So not having enough zippers yet and I have been collecting lots for a quilt, I've decided to make a zipper purse, I've quilted the black wool and then will stitch the zippers by hand with a decorative thread on the front and a few on the back with a pocket. Hopefully a one of a kind purse someone will like.
And then the sweet little mule baby, who looks just a little miserable in the cold.

OH, DEER

I know there's a Christmas song about Santa and his reindeer and the hooves on the rooftop, need to have children to remember that song.
Anyway, laying in bed this morning with my first cup of coffee, thinking about Christmas and what we would do today, Jim doesn't go out much, to church or dinner. So I'm thinking about that when I hear noises down below on the deck. Loud noises, stomping noises. So I get up and go downstairs, Jim is still asleep and I go to the front door, and behold. A female deer. She's walking around on the deck looking for food. Not great pictures since I had to take them thru the screen, didn't want to scare her and have her break a leg jumping off the deck.
And then a picture of the quilt I had on the table that Fiesta asked about, it's and old Brannock & Patek panel fabric piece that I just quilted and use as a tablecloth. Very vintage piece of fabric.
And a Christmas gift to myself, I found Yoko Saito's book Woolwork 2004 on Ebay.
Thank you Geli.
