I posted a picture of this quilt back in 2006. I have it hanging in the dining room on the ceiling. I was inspired by a barn door painting that I had seen in an old Country Living magazine. Needle turn applique and I actually machine quilted it. It still bothers me, ever so slightly, that the inner circle is wonky, but you don't notice it with it being on the ceiling.
You would think this picture of cowboys herding cattle are from up the road. Who would have thought that back in '89, when Jim and I were traveling through Montana and I took this picture, that we would soon be living not far away. We were on a month long vacation, from Texas, through Montana and Idaho, Canada and on to Washington, looking for a new home.
I"ve always loved that hex quilt!
ReplyDeleteadore your header, and the quilt is awesome, as usual....
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful sky for your home!!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea!!
Have a good day.
I find your barn hex quilt very interesting. What a creative idea to make something you have seen in a photo into fabric.
ReplyDeleteOh dear me! I love that quilt, wonky circle and all. I am inspired to make one myself; I hope you don't mind. Karmen
ReplyDeleteI have always loved that quilt . . . ever consider publishing a pattern? *s*
ReplyDeleteThe cattle drive photo is fab. I love how the cowboy and his dog are looking at one another. There is surely a silent conversation going on there.
