Collector Series

I decided to start hand quilting my Collector Series.  A very old BOM from Jan Patek and Linda Brannock.  I'll use the big stitch and will take my time working on it although a finish before fall would be nice, could use an extra quilt on the bed for Winter.

I've been seeing some pictures of all the flooding and the destruction in Canada.  I'm hoping all my friends in Canada are okay.

The Baptish Fan and the Big Horns

A picture for Constance of the baptish fan stencil and the quilting.  Just using a black crochet cotton for the thread so it really shows, which I like.  I bought the stencil online from the Stencil Company since I don't have access to a local quilt shop.  I'm almost done since I'm only quilting the fan up to the wool house.  I've already quilted an echo stitch on and in the house.
The big horn sheep surprised me yesterday and today by coming to drink water up close to the house.
I was actually outside puttering around when I heard them behind me.  Was able to go inside and grab my camera without bothering them to take the pics.

So much better not having to shoot thru the screen door.
Looking for shade since they still have their winter coats, just now starting to shed.
A relaxing pose, was able to sit myself and stitch while I watched them.

The Big Stitch

Have read some talk and even a new book on the Big Stitch. I love it, especially working by hand on prim quilts, easier, faster and the look of hand did prim. I made this quilt back in 2007, A Penny Saved, you all have probably already seen it once, but I did use the big stitch to hand quilt it, barely shows on the closeup since I used a black crochet cotton thread. I now prefer the perle cottons for wool and linen or crochet cotton for cotton prim items. I want you to know I hand appliqued all those circles. The quilt is all Moda cotton fabrics.
