Family Quilt finished

Finished the Family Quilt last night with a day to spare. Only because I got the last picture yesterday from my provider, I told her I was going to throttle her if she gave me one more. Can't you just add it here, no, it wouldn't look right, need to take someone out, a duplicate and replace it with the new one. She was thrilled with the results and had to show it off to everyone at work. Said it would make her Mother cry, it will make a nice treasure and I am glad I was able to make it for her.

The center panel is of her Mom and Dad and her 4 brothers with Family appliqued with needle turn. The border has all the children and grandchildren of her and her brothers, very large family. I used the Red Rooster fabrics from Whimsical's.

It was bound to happen,

dropped my digital camera in the snow so until I can buy a new one, good thing it was only a point and shoot and bought it with points, I can't post anything new, would like to show my Irish purse, can't believe I came up with a design, just think green, lots and lots of green. Anyway, I posted one of my favorite Jan Patek quilts, the Bible quilt, I made it in 2005 I think, very prim, Jan's remaking it this year as a Mystery quilt, the mystery is the fabric she's using, and that's Mickey, our now deceased Siamese cat who lived to be 18 years old, came up here with us from Texas.

Another Collector's Block

I finally found the time to cut out the next block for the Collector Series, nice to just do some simple needle turn applique.

The Recipe for Friendship is finished with a label, wrapped and ready for our party at work on Friday, wow, I can get things done when I don't have to work. I think when the weather is snowy, I can get more things done in the house also, but back to work tomorrow. Will be dodging those deer.

The Sweater Progress

Here's the progress so far on the sweater purse, working on just the front of it before I add the back since the applique is so involved, love the curly yarn. Was going to be a tail on a giraffe, aka Sue Spargo design and decided it would be a fun stem.

Another Collector's Block

This time I showed how I start, pick the fabrics, trace the freezer paper, iron the freezer paper, cut out the fabric about 1/4" from the freezer paper, never mark the fabric, saves time, it's prim anyway, glue baste my pieces and off to applique.

Some prim, a cat, snow and a purse

Trying to get back to what normal is for us, waiting on a cash settlement on the car and Jim is doing better, some days, not so much. So back to the every life things, my beautiful Bailey asleep in the window.

My first love in the quilting frame of things, needle turn applique with those dark vintage colored fabrics, The Collector Series from Brannock & Patek.

A spring snow storm that dropped inches and inches of snow overnight last week and now all gone and beautiful outside.

And a purse I made for a friend, way too bright for me, added some wool applique and she was a happy lady.

Progress

Life does go on, one more block to finish the Pink elephants and then will machine quilt it, and add the cart pulls out of yarn I think with a big black bead. Have you seen these two new books out, just love the Valentine quilt and the William Morris applique looks stunning. Quilt Mania mag has Jubilee by Jan Patek on the cover, I am being prodded into making this quilt by my group.
